THE WITTELSBACH CASTLE

Look forward to a varied tour through playful courtyards, a deeply impressive Renaissance ballroom, Baroque private chambers, a splendid suite of rooms from the Rococo period, a magnificent court chapel, and the neoclassical royal building in new splendor. |

Explore the city palace of the Bavarian rulers on various tours: I currently offer an overview tour or a tour of the newly renovated Royal Building. You can also marvel at King Ludwig I's Nibelungen Halls with me during a short tour. |

Hear about the fate of the Residence during the Second World War and learn about the reconstruction efforts that were and are being made to preserve this work of art for us in all its splendor, even today. |
Impressions
Description:
Experience the palace of the Wittelsbach ruling family on a private tour for a maximum of 20 people. I would be happy to take you on a journey through the centuries, through staterooms, chambers, court churches, and courtyards. All lavishly furnished with treasures, deliberately selected by the respective duke, elector, or king to impress the 'who's who' of European nobility—naturally in keeping with the fashion of the time. This splendor invites us to repeatedly glimpse behind the scenes and better understand the rulers, their families, their ideas, and the spirit of the times.
The most important things in brief:
Meeting point:
Residence model at Max-Joseph-Platz in front of the main entrance to the Residence
public transport:
Short walk from Odeonsplatz, which can be easily reached by U3 / U6 or U4 / U5; or tram stop Nationaltheater
Duration:
Can be booked as a 2- or 3-hour tour
Distance:
approx. 1 km
My tips for before and after our tour:
After our tour, you've earned a nice glass of wine, because there's nothing more delightful than reflecting on the cultural highlights in the Palatinate Residence Wine Bar in the courtyard of the Imperial Court. Or you can deepen your knowledge with a visit to the Bavarian National Museum, where you'll encounter the treasures of some of the people you met on our tour. But if, like the rulers of yesteryear, you're now craving some country air, then enjoy yourself in the garden of Nymphenburg Palace or take a leisurely stroll through the English Garden. And if you want to end the day in style, then attend one of the exquisite concerts that still fill the Residence with melodious sounds today – either in the Court Chapel or in the Hercules Hall, home of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
