It has been almost a year since the Federal Association of Tourist Guides BVGD asked its members what actually makes a really good city tour. As an official guide of the Munich Tourist Guide Association MGV I also thought about it. You can find my result here.
Besides a great city like Munich, you obviously need a lot of other things: plenty of knowledge, funny anecdotes, good weather, and, above all, a lot of fun and passion for your work. But the most important thing, of course, is the people who go on tours with us as tour guides. Because without an audience with whom we can talk about our city, every city tour is boring.
Back then, I couldn't have imagined that we'd have to go without our guests for months. And I certainly couldn't imagine that I'd one day be able to conduct my tours virtually. But after a successful start last year during the canceled Oktoberfest, I've really taken a shine to it. Some of my favorite tours have now been reworked into varied digital online lectures. You can find an overview here. here.
Thanks to the Zoom meeting software, even a digital tour isn't a one-way street. Through surveys or short discussions, we can also let guests participate in the Munich experience virtually. Perhaps you'd like to visit Munich and join us next time?
