The city at a glance
Munich Old Town Walk
Impressions
Description:
The Glockenspiel or the Viktualienmarkt – these are the first things every visitor thinks of. And of course, beer! Sure, hardly any other city is so steeped in history and stories surrounding Bavaria's national drink, but Munich's old town has so much more to offer!
Experience with me the diverse mix of medieval churches, a bustling market, traditional breweries, a cozy beer garden, a stately city palace, romantic courtyards, sophisticated squares and a modern shopping paradise.
This tour not only presents fantastic photo opportunities, but also all the interesting stories that give the sights their character.

It's the little secrets and anecdotes, the witty punchlines, and the exciting connections that you'll fondly remember when you look back at your vacation photos at home. You'll certainly remember where the Hofbräuhaus regulars keep their beer mugs, why Munich residents love "Alter Peter" so much, and where Rosi caused her scandal in the restricted area. Generally speaking, it's the people who make a city so endearing, and of course, they'll always be at the forefront of our tour!
Art lovers won't be disappointed on this tour either! Architecturally, there's much to discover here in the vibrant mix of styles spanning centuries. Whether it's the town halls, the Residence, the Feldherrnhalle, the National Theatre, the Alter Hof, or the Fünf Höfe (Five Courtyards), it's always worth taking a closer look!
But when we mentally journey through the centuries, we must not forget the darkest chapter of the city's history, namely when Munich grew into the so-called "Capital of the Movement" under the National Socialists. How the people of Munich dealt with this chapter then and now will be just as important to us as the reconstruction of a city almost completely destroyed by war.
Whether you're young or old, traveling as a school group or on business, with family, friends, or a Munich resident planning a tour for your guests – Munich's Old Town has something for everyone. And I look forward to helping you find the perfect tour. If you're already a Munich expert, I recommend one of my themed tours or my tours from the "Hidden Gems" section!

„"The city tour was very exciting and interesting, even if you're not usually a fan of guided tours – this tour is really top-notch!"
We were with the sports club, about 30 people of all ages, and everyone thought it was one of the best city tours they had ever had.“

My tips for before and after our tour:
This overview tour can be perfectly integrated into your day in Munich. If you plan the Old Town tour for the morning, you could then, for example, head towards... Nymphenburg Palace or direction Olympic grounds and BMW Experience World We could set off. Or we could explore one of Munich's neighborhoods together, where things are often a bit more tranquil. If we meet in the afternoon, a visit to one of Munich's many museums beforehand would be a good idea.
Or, as a prelude to your Bavarian evening, I can take you to one of Munich's famous taverns after my tour – then we'll really get things going! No matter what time of day – this tour is always fun!
If you are staying in Munich for several days, it is recommended that you do this tour right at the beginning – that way you will keep track of my wonderful city!
Frequently asked questions:
Can I have a snack during the tour?
Of course! We'd be happy to plan your tour together as a culinary cultural event. Whether it's a Weißwurst breakfast, a beer garden break, an after-work aperitif, or simply a quick pretzel stop – anything is possible!
Will we also see the famous town hall carillon at Marienplatz on the tour?
The carillon can be admired daily at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., and in the summer also at 5 p.m., and can be incorporated into our tour at any time—of course, enriched with all the important insider information!
What is the best meeting point for this tour?
It's certainly a good idea to start the Old Town tour right in the center, at Marienplatz. However, I'm also happy to pick you up from your hotel or accommodate your individual needs. I prefer to meet groups arriving by bus at one of the bus arrival zones to maximize the tour time.
