Artists were inspired by nature, so that even today it still climbs, grows, blooms and thrives on Schwabing's facades.

When the Dachau concentration camp opened at the end of March 1933, just weeks after Adolf Hitler came to power, no one knew that it would remain the only concentration camp to last a full 12 years, until the end of the Nazi regime. Moreover, not least because of the adjacent SS training camp, it was also considered a prototype for countless camps in Germany and Europe. When the site was liberated by US troops at the end of April 1945, more than 200,000 prisoners had been humiliated there, and at least 41,500 people had lost their lives. We owe the fact that we can visit this historic site today to the initiative and perseverance of several survivors. During our tour of the memorial grounds, we will attempt to understand the prisoners' daily lives, marked by hunger, disease, arbitrary treatment, and death, without losing sight of the question "How was this possible?", especially because it remains as relevant today as ever.

And if you fancy Munich, just come along!

I look forward to seeing you and send my best wishes
