Experience Munich!

I've been working as an official tour guide in Munich for ten years now, and I'm delighted to welcome you here today. Perhaps you'd like to join me on one of my tours? I would be delighted to join you! Thanks to my tour guide system, even larger groups can enjoy a smooth and carefree stroll through the Old Town, the Olympic Park, or the individual districts.

Munich is best experienced on foot: strolling through the Viktualienmarkt, walking along the Isar River, strolling along Maximilianstraße, strolling through Haidhausen, browsing in Schwabing, or following in the footsteps of famous people. But the Bavarian capital is also excellent to explore by tram or subway, on your coach, or by bike.

I would be happy to share my enthusiasm for this city with you if you, as a family, company, school or travel agency, are looking for competent guidance for your very own Munich experience. I am also happy to be on the road for the people of Munich, just browse through my large selection of special themed tours or Neighborhood tours.

The Munich classics

National Socialism

"We always fondly remember the tour through the Olympic Park with Grit... thank you so much! It was truly enriching for us and our confirmation guests. Your enthusiasm captivated us all!

The Adler family from Munich at a family celebration, September 2021

"We are a group of men who all have full-time jobs and usually have little time. We thought we'd do something different and, during our search, came across Ms. Ranft's website. We've lived in Munich for a long time, but like many locals, we know more about the history of Paris and Rome than about our hometown. The tour of Heidhausen was eye-opening for us! We had fantastic spring weather, and Ms. Ranft took us on a journey through history. We had a lot of questions, but Ms. Ranft was prepared for everything and gave us a very good impression of the district's development, including demographic changes, shops, squares, and people. We're already looking forward to the next opportunity to travel with Ms. Ranft and get to know new districts.

Peyman Blumstengel from Munich at a meeting with friends, March 2022

"I recently had the opportunity to participate in a virtual Oktoberfest tour. What could it possibly be, online and without the live experience? I thought to myself beforehand, and I was curious to see how it would reach the viewers via Zoom.
I was proven wrong! Grit Ranft managed to conjure up an almost LIVE Oktoberfest experience right on my desk. This was achieved partly through excellently prepared sound and video technology and partly through the truly amazing stories she brought with her. She knows her stuff and has a lot to say about the Wiesn hosts and the background, and she does it all in a charming and entertaining way. Online Oktoberfest tour with Grit Ranft – 5 stars from me and an absolute recommendation!

Angela Jacobsen, Senior Business Development Manager at ORACLE Germany in Munich; October 2021

"Grit and I have known each other for a few years now. We met when she stopped by our Christmas market with her culinary tours. There are some people who just click, and that was the case with Grit and me. I love her warm, fresh, direct, professional, and open manner.
Over time, a friendly relationship has developed that extends beyond the tours, which I greatly appreciate. It's always a highlight for me when she visits me with her guests or stops by for a private chat.

Markus Kaiser, known as Mandelhans from Oktoberfest, Christmas market and Dulten

"We participated in the Oktoberfest tour with our soccer club—no Oktoberfest due to the coronavirus—and everyone had a great time. It was interesting, informative, and totally entertaining, and even for us Munich kids, there were plenty of new things and curiosities. From now on, city tours are only possible with Grit, thank you for a wonderful Sunday afternoon!

Diana Schmidt from Munich, September 2020

"I recently accompanied Grit Ranft on her Art Nouveau tour through Schwabing. Her city tours are lively, entertaining strolls that wonderfully combine anecdotes and interesting facts. While listening, you never feel bored, your legs never tire, and because the content is so well presented, you remember a surprising number of details. You're delighted with the new knowledge and see Munich with different eyes afterwards!

Michaela Schachner from Munich

“Munich has a lot of amazing things to offer, including Grit Ranft, our city guide.
On our second city tour with her, this time through the Art Nouveau district of Schwabing, it rained. But that didn't matter, because with her personal style, she shares facts and anecdotes in such a way that you just listen, watch, and forget everything else. We've rarely experienced a tour guide with such enthusiasm, and we'll try to "work through" her entire program because it's simply fun.
Gabi and Michael Bernhard, Munich in October 2020

"A lovingly and well-researched tour of a fair that we all sorely miss. I absorbed and imagined all the smells described. The clinking of dishes, the smell of fish on a grill, and the traditional music at the Russnrad (a traditional German folk festival) brightening the mood. Thank you very much, Ms. Ranft, for your hard work. Afterwards, my friends and I felt a little nostalgic. We washed it away with a glass of champagne and the hope of the next live tour with you. Lots of strength and energy to keep going.
Yours, Susanne Paintner

personally tailored and well-founded!

No two tours are the same, because it's important to me that my tour fits your wishes and expectations, whether you're traveling as a family, a tour group, a school class, or perhaps just a Munich expert in your own city. Because only a truly personal experience is memorable!

And for all my tours, facts and figures play only a very minor role. They're usually impossible to remember anyway; I know that from my own experience. However, this doesn't mean that your Munich experience isn't well-founded or well-researched; quite the opposite! It's the historical context, the sense of an era, the stories behind the stories, the endearing anecdotes, and, above all, the many personalities that define the face of a city—whether they lived many centuries ago or are currently shaping the city's current events.

Especially for larger groups, I can provide you with a tour guide system so that you can understand me well via a “button in your ear” even in the hustle and bustle of the city.

For companies, schools, private parties or other events, I now also carry out virtually via the Internet about the Oktoberfest, into medieval Munich or through the colorful world of proverbs.
